This project was carried out in order to examine the relationship between headmaster leadership style and teachers effectiveness in some primary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja. Four research questions guided the study. A survey research design was adopted in the study. Questionnaire was used for data collection. Data collection was analyzed using simple percentage and mean scores.
The study found that the level of relationship between headmasters leadership style and teachers effectiveness towards teaching in primary schools. Strategies used by headmasters’ in Primary Schools in Gwagwalada Area Council are good and so the teachers exhibit positive attitude to work. It was recommended therefore, that the Headmasters in Primary Schools in Gwagwalada Area Council Should continually use a lot of motivational strategies and exhibit good relationship with teachers to enhance attitude to work.
The motivation to write the project on the relationship between Headmasters leadership style and teachers’ effectiveness in some primary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council was borne out of the desire for these “two players” to have a cardinal relationship/good rapport.
The purpose of this study were determine by the perceive leadership behaviors of primary school Headmaster in Gwagwalada Education Zone.
Secondly, to ascertain the relationship between Headmasters and teachers effectiveness in some primary schools in Gwagwalada.
Thirdly, to establish if there were patterns of teachers decision making or not.
The study exposes the impending danger that awaits a school where the relationship between headmasters and teachers suffer cordiality. It also presents the roles of Headmasters and teachers in academic setting.
Furthermore, it reveals what impresses teacher’s effectiveness or what impaired their effectiveness / non-performance.
Conclusively, it explains some of the negative leadership styles of some headmasters and the positive ones.
